研究成果の概要

本研究は、北極海に流入する河川流出量と熱フラックス、及び海氷減少に及ぼすその影響を評価することを目的とする。今まで海氷減少に影響する因子として河川流出量に関する視点がない。観測データと数値モデルを統合して、流出量と熱フラックスの輸送量を定量的に評価し、流出量と海氷減少の関係を調べた。北極河川の水温が上昇しており、北極海に流入する河川水の熱フラックスも増加傾向にあった。その熱フラックスは、北極海の沿岸域において夏の海水温を1－5℃上昇させ、また海氷減少に対して10－20％の寄与率を示した。特に、春季において海氷減少に対する河川水の熱フラックスの影響が顕著であった。
