適応学習制御方式への要請を考慮して，広範囲の環境変動や特性変動および制御仕様の変更に対応できて，特に大規模で複雑な対象について，構成要素間相互の通信制約を考慮しながら部分的な情報を用いて，システム全体を統合化し調和の取れた行動原理を自動生成する適応学習手法の開発を行った．これにより適応学習制御，制御理論，知的制御のこれまでの枠組みを拡張するだけでなく，通信制約を考慮した大規模複雑系の協調行動の自動生成という観点から，従来の分野を越えた新たな研究分野の創成とその理論体系の整備に繋がる成果を得ることが出来た．
