高エネルギー重粒子破砕片の生成角度分布の測定及び理論的研究

研究成果の概要

重粒子線治療・宇宙線で重要な10～1000 MeV/u領域で、重イオンの核破砕片生成反応断面積の角度依存性を測定した。軽いターゲット(炭素)から重いターゲット(鉛)までの反応で生成する破砕片の生成断面積を角度の関数として明らかにした。また、測定された断面積を基に放射線輸送計算コードPHITSの反応モデル改良を行った。特にPHITSの反応モデルのうち、破砕片の生成断面積を決定づける量子分子動力学モデルの改良に取り組み、核子間の相互作用の記述を正確にすることで、破砕片生成断面積角度分布が過小評価されていた問題を解決した。一部の改良についてはすでに、本研究を通じてPHITSに実装し、公開した。
