The research reveals that urban landscapes of colonial Manchuria were multi-layered, formed and developed by the power dynamics among the Chinese, Japanese, and Russian during the early twentieth century. Their competitions and negotiations formed refractured, fluid spaces, which had lingering impacts on later Manchukuo.
