研究実績の概要 |
Morphogenesis of human embryos is occurring in three-dimensional (3D) manner. To understand sequential changes during the developmental period, 3D models is essential for help to understand the overview of those dynamic morphological alterations temporally and spatially. Since 1961, a large number of human embryos and fetuses have been collected at Congenital Anomaly Research Center, Kyoto University, and it is now called “Kyoto Collection of Human Embryos”. Using histological sections from the Kyoto Collection, we aim to make 3D models of embryonic organs and apply them to self-learning program of human embryology. The progress in FY2016 is below; the technique for registration of serial sections has developed. The usage of histological sections of human embryos in this research includes 2 important point for the Multidisciplinary Computational Anatomy; First, histological sections have quite huge information in comparison with other medical imaging such as MRI or X-ray CT, commonly used in the research. Second, image data during embryonic period are precious and valuable, and they can add the new aspect such as developmental biology to the research. In addition, 3D models and movies have been made, and platform of the tutorials has been constructed using CMS in FY2016.
