研究実績の概要 |
We investigated the atomic structure of metal chlorides and alkali metals intercalated into bilayer graphene (BLG) using STEM. Our results revealed structural deviations from the original materials; for instance, MoCl5 intercalation resulted in MoCl3 and other MoClx nanostructures. This emphasizes the need for atomic-resolution imaging to accurately ascertain the properties of intercalation compounds (published in ACS Nano). Further, we found that K, Rb, and Cs intercalated into BLG form a hcp bilayer, challenging the expected single-metal-layer intercalation. From this, we proposed a new graphite intercalation model where the surface-near interlayer expands to accommodate a metal bilayer, while central layers retain a single-metal form, detailed in Nature Communications.
