研究概要

中小口径望遠鏡による観測及び観測機能強化については、岡山天体物理観測所50cmMITSuME望遠鏡により13個のガンマ線バーストを観測し、うち8個について可視残光を検出した。これらの結果を9本のGCNサーキュラーとして公表した。また同所91cm望遠鏡の駆動制御系を改修し、赤経・赤緯両軸の駆動スピードを5倍にすることに成功した。どの方向でガンマ線バーストが発生しても90秒以内に撮像観測が可能な状態にできた。また、近赤外線検出器の駆動部分の製作を進め、読み出し実験を行った。宇宙研1. 3m望遠鏡は前半は観測運用を行っていたが、後半には望遠鏡の改修および高速駆動化を行った。駆動速度は4倍改善され、2分以内にガンマ線バーストを観測できる体制を整えることができた。一方、すばる望遠鏡観測装置の機能強化については、可視撮像分光観測装置FOCASに使用する新CCDの性能評価、冷凍機を含めた新デュワーの最終設計・製作・組立を行った。MOIRCSについては、低分散素子を製作し、Kバンド高分散素子の試験開発を行い、冷却試験まで可能となった。今年度には、ガンマ線バーストの最遠方記録が塗り替えられたが、すばる望遠鏡を用いてその測光観測に寄与した。その他、ガンマ線バーストを背景光とした銀河間空間物質の性質についての研究、銀河進化に関する観測的研究、超新星爆発の遅延時間に関する研究等を進めた。
