物質科学的手法による地球・惑星鉱物の形成過程推定に関する総合的研究

研究概要

鉱物の形成過程の記録は鉱物のマクロな集合組織,共存する鉱物組合せ,化学組成変化,ミクロな組織,高次な結晶構造などに残されているが,その形成と冷却の歴史を推定するには従来からの鉱物分野独特の手法が用いられてきた。一方,最近の半導体,ファインセラミックス,高温超伝導体などの研究分野などではより高度の物質科学的手法が開発され,コントロ-ルされた条件下での人工鉱物の研究が著しく進展している。研究対象も地球表層の鉱物だけでなく地球深部物質,隕石,月賦料など太陽系全体を視野に入れた物質進化の研究も可能になってきた。本研究ではこのような高度に発達した物質科学的手法を従来の鉱物学的な手法と組合せ,地球・惑星物質全体について,その形成と冷却の過程をより精緻に推定するための総合的研究を行なった。各研究者が有機的に協力・情報交換を行ない,それぞれの研究を発展させる必要があるので,初年度はまずどのような物質学的手法がどのような問題を解決するのに有効に適用できるかをサ-ベイし,一方,地球科学・惑星科学の分野でどのような興味ある問題が未解決であり,どのような方法が必要であるかの情報交換と討論を行なうために研究集会を開催した。今年度検討した手法は,実験惑星科学的手法(北村,土山),局所同位体分析法であるSIMS法(山中,植田),元素の拡散現象のコンピュ-タシミレ-ションによる手法(武田,宮本),超高圧元素分配実験法(入船),X線・中性子線回折併用法(田賀井),X線回折法による席占有率決定法(丸茂)である。地球惑星物質として研究した対象は分化した隕石母天体・惑星地殻(池田,武田),地殻表層部での粘土鉱物(西田,井上),地球に特徴的な石英(相川,篠田),太古代斜長岩(田賀井)である。これらの討論を通じて,様々な研究手法を総合的に組合せ,多様な対象にどのようにして有効にアプロ-チするか具体的に検討した。
