物質科学的手法による地球・惑星鉱物の形成過程推定に関する総合的研究

研究概要

本年度は3年継続の本研究の2年目であり、昨年に続き高度に発達した物質科学的手法を従来の鉱物学的な手法と組合せ、地球・惑星物質全体について、その形成と冷却の過程をより精緻に推定するための総合的研究を行なった。鉱物の形成過程の記録は鉱物のマクロな集合組織、共存する鉱物組合せ、化学組成変化、ミクロな組織、高次な結晶構造などに残されているが、その形成と冷却の歴史を推定する有効な物質科学的手法の検討が本総研の1つである。特に最近の半導体、ファインセラミックス、高温超伝導体などの研究分野での研究に着目すると、この分野では非常に高度の物質科学的手法が開発・応用されている。これらの手法がどのような研究対象に有効か、地球表層の鉱物だけでなく地球深部物質、隕石、月試料など太陽系全体を視野に入れて検討した。初年度にサ-ベイした物質学的手法のうち有効な手法について具体的な討論をおこなうために、また一方、地球科学・惑星科学の分野でどのような興味ある問題が未解決であり、どのような方法が必要であるかの情報交換と討論を行なうために研究集会を京都で開催した。今年度検討した手法は、局所同位体分析法であるSIMS法に関する新開発中の装置・性能と隕石研究への応用(末野、圦本)、放射光蛍光X線分析による地球・惑星鉱物の2次元状態分析(中井)、超高分解能電子顕微鏡元素による惑星間塵の起源(留岡、武田)、位置敏感X線検出器による構造の動的変化(山中)、微小質石英の粉末X線回析(西田)である。そのほか研究発表としてアノ-サイトメルトからの結晶成長(青木)、コンドライト隕石の成因(北村)長石のドメイン構造の群論的研究(松本)、また固体惑星の形成・進化と探査(藤井)、宇宙物質の同位体比異常(岡野)を行なった。これらの討論を通じて、様々な研究手法を総合的に組合せ、多様な対象にどのようにして有効にアプロ-チするか具体的に検討した。
