研究概要	1.クロロフィルの分解がクロロフィリド、フェオフォルビド、ピロフェオフォルビドと順次酵素的に行われること示した。またクロロフィルのエピマ-化がMgにより触媒されることも明らかにした。光合成細菌が好気的明条件下で光合成色素を形成しないのはアポタンパク質遺伝子発現が転写レベルで光調節されているためであることを示した。アポタンパク質の合成停止等でクロロフィル合成が停止したとき有害なポルフィリン化合物の蓄積を避け、それを直鎖型テトラピロ-ル化合物とする代謝系の存在をクラミドモナスで見いだした。 2.光系Iが光阻害され難いのは活性酸素生成を抑える循環的電子伝達系が<in>___ー <vivo>___ーで機能しているためであることを明らかにした。光系IIの反応中心の光阻害が多価不飽和脂肪酸を欠損したラン藻で顕著になることを示した。光系II反応中心光傷害部位であるD1タンパク質の合成の光制御機構のkey factorがストロマ中のATPの濃度レベルであることなどを示した。 3.光傷害の一因となる過酸化水素の消去系としてアスコルビン酸ペルオキシダ-ゼをもつ種とカタラ-ゼをもつ種がラン藻のなかに存在し、前者は進化の途中で獲得されたものであることを示した。茎葉植物では液胞中にフェノ-ル性化合物を電子供与体とするペルオキシダ-ゼが過酸化水素除去に関与していることを示した。強光下では光系I、光系II複合体、光捕獲アンテナ複合体の含量が減少し、光系I複合体の形成調節の信号がCytーb_6ーf複合体のQサイクルフラックスであることを示した。一方、植物の低温での光傷害は脱共役によることを明らかにした。
