研究概要	磁気圏ー電離圏システム中で発生する最も基本的なプラズマ不安定ー磁気圏サブスト-ムの発生メカニズム解明へのヒントを得るために、各種のデ-タを用いて研究を進めている。今年度の研究を通して明らかになった点は次のとおりである。 1.Magnetogramーinversion法と呼ばれている、電離圏の電場1電流を推定する方法に、刻々と変動する電離層電気伝導度分布(たとえば、人工衛星によるUVイメ-ジデ-タを用いて)を組み合わせれば、かなり信頼性のある電位が算出できる。この点を示すため、次の2つの方法を用いた。 (1)Inversion法によって推定した極冠域全体にかかる電位差を、太陽風の情報から経験的に計算した電位差を比較したところ、非常に高い相関が得られた。 (2)Inversion法によって推定した電離層電流ベクトルのうち、Pedersen成分を磁力線に沿って磁気圏赤道面に投影した24時間分布を、AMPTE衛星で観測された電流ベクトル分布と比べ、高い相関を得た。とくにベクトルの方向は、デ-タソ-スが全く異るにもかかわらず、両者(地球表面からスタ-トしたものと、人工衛星による直接測定)は一致している。 2.サブスト-ム爆発に極冠域のサイズの変動(とくにオ-ロラ爆発直前のサイズの拡大)は、サブスト-ム発達、とくにそのエネルギ-収支に大きく影響する。極冠域を決定することは磁力線のopenーclosed境界を決定することになり、現在は不可能である。Inversion法から求めた電場、電流、そして同期間のオ-ロラ衛星写真から間接的に極冠境界を推定しこれらを比較したところ、最大5ﾟ(緯度)の差があることが知られた。地方時による影響も大きい。
