金属酸化物のAb initio MO法による理論的研究

研究概要	本研究では遷移金属酸化物の電子状態をab initioおよびNーbandハバ-ドモデルによって詳細に検討した。まず、八面体配位子場を有するCuObユニットの電子状態を完全配置(CAS)SCFにより検討した結果、余分のホ-ルが導入されない状態では^2Ag状態が基座状態であることが判明した。次にこのユニットに余分のホ-ルを1個導入した場合には、CuO_4平面の酸素上にホ-ルが生成している状態が基底および低い励起状態であることが判明した。さらに、CASSCF法による計算結果では、CuーO結合軸方向の対称性を持つσホ-ル状態の方が、軸方向に垂直なπホ-ルを持つ状態よりも不安定になることが判明した。この傾向はCu_2Gなる二量体の場合においても同様であったが、両状態間ではそのエネルギ-差が小さくなる傾向にあることがわかった。さらに、CASSCF Lt等σのホ-ル状態がスピン分極型の波動関数によって、十分信頼出来る精度で記述出来ることを示した。次にスピン分極型波動関数(APOMP)を用いてμーオキソ型遷移金属二量体MOM系の電子状態を検討した。まず、余分のホ-ルが存在しない場合の遷移金属イオン間の有効交換積分(Jab)を検討したところ、180°型スピン相関のために、遷移金属(M)上のスピンは反強磁性的相互作用をすることが判明した。特に、M=Cuの場合、Jabの絶対値が他の場合(M=Ni,Co,Fe,Mn)に比較して大変大きく、約1000cm^<ー1>にもなることがわかった。さらに、MOM系のOにσホ-ルを導入した場合の遷移金属一酸素間のJab(MO)値を検討した。Jap(MO)の絶対値は金属間のそれ、Jap(MM)の約3倍であることが判明した。一方、Oにπホ-ルを導入した場合にはJap(MO)は90°スピン相関のために正の値になること、さらにその大きさは1Jab(MM)1の約1/3になることがわかった。以上、本研究により、MOM系におけるスピン相関の実態が解明された。
