光励起された半導体ー溶液界面に用いる新しいレドックス反応とパタ-ン形成

研究概要

本研究者らは,半導体電極を用いることにより,光エネルギ-を電気化学的に変換してクリ-ンエネルギ-である水素燃料および電気エネルギを発生させる電気化学光電池を研究してきた。
本研究においては,まず,不均一界面の電荷移行プロセスを新しいテクニックである走査トンネル顕微鏡およびレ-ザ-パルス励起ポテンシャル法を用いて研究し、次いで,新しい応用としてのパタ-ン形成法への応用の可能性をさぐった。特にパタ-ン形成法としてはTiO_2やZnOなどの無機半導体上に有機導電性の薄膜や有機絶縁体を位置選択的に形成する場合とWO_3などのエレクトロクロミズムとホトクロミズムを併用する方法で書き込み,消去可能なディスプレイとに分けて研究した。
1)STMの試作と半導体ー溶液界面のin situ観測による電荷移行過程の追求:半導体一溶液界面の走査トンネル顕微鏡(STM)観測が可能となるようなSTM装置の試作をおこなった。HOPGを始め,いろいろの試作を用い原子像を得ることができた。
2)レ-ザ-パルス励起ポテンシャル法による界面電位分布の解明:光CVD法を用い,アモルファスSiやマイクロクリスタルSiCを作製し,これを半導体試料とした。N_2レ-ザ-を用いて,半導体ー溶液界面をnseオ-ダ-で励起,その時のフォトポテンシャルより,半導体ー溶液界面の電位分布を詳細に検討した。これらの結果と電荷移動の研究から,半導体表面での光電気化学反応の機構を調べ,界面における電荷移動の機構に考察を加えた。
3)無機半導体上へのポリピロ-ルなどのパタ-ン形成:ZnO,TiO_2などの無機半導体薄膜をスプレイパイロリシス,電子ビ-ム蒸着などで作り,これを光電極とした。
4)WO_3,MoO_3などのホトエレクトロクロミズムの基礎研究をした。
