研究概要

酸化物超伝導体の発見を契機に、超伝導応用への関心が飛躍的に高まり、特にエネルギ-分野では、超伝導発電機・超伝導電力貯蔵・核融合装置の超伝導化・超伝導リニヤモ-タなど大型の開発計画が急速に進められている。超伝導電力機器を実用化するには、臨界温度のほか、臨界磁界、臨界電流密度が高く、更に熱的に安定で、電磁損失が少なく、かる歪特性など機械的にも優れた特性をもつ超伝導材料の開発が重要である。現在、超伝導機器材料として実用化されているのは、NbTi、Nb_3Snなど、二、三の材料に限られているが、Nb_3Al、NbN、PbMo_6S_8など多種類の金属系材料が、高性能の新超伝導材料として注目され、酸化物超伝導材料とともに今後の開発に期待がかけられている。本研究は、種々の専門分野の超伝導材料研究者を全国的規模で有機的に組織し、Nb_3Al、NbN、PbMo_6S_8及び酸化物超伝導材料などの新生超伝導材料について、超伝導基礎物性・電磁特性・機械的性質及び線材化の検討等、超伝導材料開発に必要な諸特性を総合的かつ体系的に調査研究し、基盤デ-タの整備を行うとともに、超伝導電力機器用の高性能の新超伝導材料開発のための基礎となる知見を得ることを目的として、幹事会及び2回のシンポジウムを開催した。幹事会(平2.10.6;岩手大学)に於ては、本年度の活動方針を討議し、併せて国際会議報告を行い、世界での新生超伝導材料開発技術の動向を調査した。第1回シンポジウム(平2.12.14、15;八戸高専)では、我が国での先進超伝導材料開発の最近の進歩と、ラウンドロビンテストと標準化にスポットをあてて調査研究活動を行った。第2回シンポジウム(平3.2.8、9;仙台)では、酸化物超伝導体、核融合超伝導工学、および従来型超伝導線材の開発を主テ-マに発表・検討を行い、現状を明らかにして、問題点を抽出した。これらの研究会活動によって、新生超伝導材料開発の現状と今後の課題が明らかになったと思われる。
