研究概要

本総合研究は、新しい無機材料と、それを作製するための新しい作製プロセスの探索を目的として研究を進めた。これを効率的に推進するために、1)材料設計と固相プロセッシング、2)材料設計と液相プロセッシング、3)材料設計と気相プロセッシング、の3つのグル-プに分け、かつグル-プ相互の連携を図りつつ、相互の討論を行った。
材料設計と固相プロセッシングのグル-プは固相反応、焼結あるいはガス圧、超高圧下で材料の作製を行って来た。常圧化の合成として、窒化アルミニウム、遷移金属酸化物、アルミナ/シリカナノ構造材などの合成が取り上げられ、その反応の過程や構造材としての評価がなされた。高圧合成では、MnーTeーGe系、ダイヤモンドや立方BNなどの合成プロセスと材料評価が行われた。
材料設計と液相プロセッシングのグル-プでは、沈澱法、ゾル・ゲル法、あるいは高温での溶融体から材料作製が行われた。即ち、溶液からMgAl_2O_4、SnO_2、複合ペロブスカイトなど、また溶融体からバリウム鉄ホウ酸塩ガラス、ジルコニア、高温酸化物超伝導体とその単結晶などの作製を行った。ここでは、生成機構と材料のキャラクタリザ-ションに重点をおいて研究を進めた。
材料設計と気相プロセッシングのグル-プでは、レ-ザ-アブレ-シヨン法、蒸着法、スパッタ法を用いて、種々の酸化物超伝導体、立方晶BN、ペロブスカイト薄膜、窒化鉄、ダイヤモンドなどの作製を行った。これらの研究では、膜成長のプロセスの制御に重点をおき、プロセスと薄膜の物性との関連を明らかにした。
以上の研究を総括して、新しい機能性の物質と新しいプロセッシングの可能性について検討した。
