魚類の通し回遊と陸封に関する進化生態学的研究

研究概要	鳥類やほ乳類にみられる渡りや回遊移動と比較して、海洋と淡水域という異なる媒体からなるハビタ-ト間を往復する点で特異的な、魚類における通し回遊、およびその過程で派生する湖沼・河川への陸封現象のプロセスと要因を総合的に解明する目的で、生理学的・集団遺伝学的・生態学的調査を実施した。初年度の研究計画の目標であった遡河・降河・両側回遊魚の各回遊様式の実態調査、陸封に伴う遡河・両側回遊魚の種分化パタ-ンの特異性の解明、および遡河回遊魚の降海時における海水適応能の発達機構に関する細胞生理学的解析に関しては順調に進行し、多くの知見が得られた。その中で特に重要な研究成果をまとめると、以下の通りである。1.従来ウナギ類はすべて降河回遊生活史をとるとされてきたが、北海の黄ウナギの生活履歴を耳石の酸素同位体比から追跡した結果、一生を海水中で送る生活史をもつ個体群が存在する可能性が初めて示唆された。2.然別湖産ミヤベイワナの繁殖行動学的調査によって、回遊型と残留型の分化には体サイズによる同類交配が重要な役割を果たした可能性が示唆され、サケ科魚類の陸封化の進化モデル確立へ一歩前進した。3.回遊魚の河川・湖沼への陸封に伴う分化様式に関して、カジカ類で提唱された多所的・平行的種分化説が日本産イトヨの陸封・分化においても適用可能であることが示された。4.サケ科魚類の降海回遊開始には、海水適応能の発達を促すホルモンンが重要な役割を果たすことが示唆された。第二年目には、通し回遊魚の回遊様式・機構、生活史変異、群集構造における位置と機能などを中心とした生態学的研究を柱にしつつ、陸封集団の遺伝的解析、および淡水と海水を行き来するための生理的適応機構に関する調査を実施する予定である。
