研究概要	ダイズ根粒菌の宿主特異性とダイズの根粒菌株選択の機構については、各種Rjダイズ種子から抽出したガラクトースレクチンがBradyrhizobiumと,グレコシドレクチンはダイズ根粒菌と特異的に結合したが、Rj遺伝子型との関連は認められなかった。栽培ダイズ、野生ダイズ、サイラトロから抽出した根粒菌のDNAが3種類のnodグループに分けられ、各々3種の分離源宿主に対応すること、また根粒形成過程で細胞壁の分解と感染糸形成の過程が宿生特異性の決定に大きく関与していることを明かにした。R.frediiにR.trifoliiのnod遺伝子を組み込んだプラスミッド、およびlacオペロンとTn5を挿入したプラスミッドを導入した変異株のダイズに対する根粒形成能の調査では、hetelogousな遺伝子産物がR.frediiのnod遺伝子の発現に干渉作用を及ぼすことが明らかになった。インゲンの根粒形成に対する種子と根の溢泌物の影響について調査し、数種のフラボノイド化合物を同定、その消長を明らかにした。根粒形成、窒素固定能発現に影響を及ぼす硝酸は速やかに茎葉部に移行し、吸収部位以外の根や根粒には移行しにくいこと、また、莢切除による窒素固定能の低下は根粒からの固定窒素の取り去り速度の低下によることを明らかにした。根粒中の感染細胞にはキサンチン脱水素酸素、リンゴ酸脱水素酵植、非感染細胞にはウリカーゼ、アミノ酸合成酵素,CO_2暗固定酵素の活性が高く、両細胞間の分業が示唆された。共生特異的蛋白ノジュリン、とくに、ウリカーゼついて、その活性、精製酵素の性質、転写産生であるmRNAの同定、クローニングしたcDNAの塩基配列の解析等によって子葉にもウリカーゼが発現し、ゲノム中にウリカーゼ遺伝子は少なくとも2コピー存在することが示された。発育段階の異なる根粒から、substruction法によりノジュリン遺伝子のcDNAクローニングを試み、既知遺伝子の大部分と新たに9個の遺伝子を単離、その生理的意義を検討した。
