研究概要

本研究は太陽系初期に原始的物質より溶融と結晶化などの分化の過程をへて形成された隕石(エコンドライト)の母天体が、どのような物質から構成されているかを研究し、その形成過程を推定されるものである。
今年度は初年度であるが、同じ研究課題で行なった研究の新しく継続のみとめられたものである。前研究課題で購入した走査型電子顕微鏡に本年度は二次元画像処理ソフトを追加した。またその画像をパ-ソナルコンピュ-タ-に取り込み、画像処理をして鉱物種別の画像,化学組成の二次元的変化などをみるソフトの開発を行なった。さらに光学顕微鏡画像をこの装置で処理するため,CCDカメラによる像を記録する装置を購入した。この画像デ-タ利用は次年度に行う。
これらの化学組成画像を使ってエコンドライトのうち輝石及び斜長石よりなるユ-クライト、超塩基性岩的組成をもつユレイライト及び原始的エコンドライトを研究した。また月から来た隕石も同様の方法で研究した。ユ-クライトについては一つの隕石の中に形成時の冷却速度の違いによる種々の組織をもっているが、輝石の化学組成は同じものを研究した。これらの隕石は母天体上での結晶化ののち、クレ-タ-形成にともなう化学組成の均質化が起ったものであることがわかった。ユレイライトについては炭素のない新隕石の研究を行い、これがむしろ原始的エコンドライトに近いことを発見,ユレイライトと原始的エコンドライトの形成過程の類似性を指摘した。月隕石については高地から来た種類のほか、海の部分から来た隕石があることを確認した。しかもこの海の溶岩はアポロ試料には発見されてない溶岩であることが判明した。厚い溶岩流の中で分化してできた種々の輝石を含み、もっとも鉄に富む部分ではカルシウムを1重量%以上含む鉄カンラン石を含むものが発見された。これらもアポロ計画では得られなかった事実である。
