高光散乱能を有する単分散異形高分子超微粒子材料の創製

研究概要

本研究の目的は大きさの揃った各種の異形及び多中空高分子超微粒子を創製する点にある。このような超微粒子はその表面の凹凸や内部の中空部が有効に作用し、高光散乱性及び高比表面積を有する有用な機能性材料として注目されるところである。平成3年度は次のような研究成果を得た。本研究者らが見いだした無乳化剤乳化重合法により作製した単分散で真球状のスチレン-アクリル酸ブチル-メタクリル酸共重合体超微粒子のアルカリ/酸二段階後処理による多中空化プロセスの内,前年度のアルカリ処理工程に引き続き、酸処理工程について検討した。アルカリ処理工程を一定にし、種々の酸処理条件(温度,pH,時間)においてそれらの影響を検討したところ、アルカリ処理工程におけると同様に粒子の多中空化に重大な影響があること、換言すれば、酸処理工程を変化させることにより、空隙の数、サイズなどの多中空状態を制御できることを明確にできた。又、本研究者らが提起した粒子径および正負電荷状態の異なる2種のポリマ-エマルションの混合系での段階的ヘテロ凝集法を用いる異形粒子の形成については前年度にほぼその可能性を明らかにすることができた。そこで、本年度はそのヘテロ凝集過程を動的光散乱法による粒子径の変化およびレ-ザ-ゼ-タ電位計による表面電位の測定により検討し、(1)安定なブレンド状態,(2)ヘテロ軟凝集状態,(3)ヘテロ融着状態,(4)未ヘテロ凝集との分離過程,の4つの素過程の様子を明確にすることが出来た。さらに、ヘテロ凝集後の異種粒子同志の適度な融着の進行を行なうための条件を探索し、その条件によって表面凹凸の程度を制御できる可能性を明らかにした。
