高光散乱能を有する単分散異形高分子超微粒子材料の創製

研究概要

本試験研究は,0.05〜10ミクロンで大きさの揃った各種の異形及び多中空高分子超微粒子を創製することを目的としている。このような超微粒子はその表面の凹凸や内部の中空部が有効に作用し,高光散乱性及び高比表面積を有する有用な機能性材料として注目されている。最終年度にあたる今年度は前年度までの研究実績に基づき,異形高分子超微粒子の創製技術をさらに発展させ,次のように当初の目的をほぼ達成するとともにその研究過程で新たな数十nm径のマイクロエマルションの創製についての可能性を見いだすなど,多大の成果を挙げた。1)ポリスチレン粒子をシードとするアクリル酸ブチルの無乳化剤シード乳化重合法により,粒子表面に多数の凹部を有する異形粒子の合成に成功した。2)本研究者らの提起した"段階的ヘテロ凝集法"を駆使して大小の互いに反対の電荷を有するポリマー粒子をヘテロ凝集させて作製した表面に多数の凸部を有する高分子超微粒子を作製できた。さらに水分散状態下で適当な条件にて熱処理し,その程度を制御できることを明らかにした。3)本研究者らの提起したアルカリ/酸二段階処理による多中空粒子の作製技術を,従来のガラス転移温度が60C程度から100Cを越える粒子に拡大させることに成功し,高温でもその形態を保持できる耐熱性多中空高分子超微粒子の創製の道を切り開くことができた。4)動的膨潤法という独自に提起したモノマー膨潤法を用いて1ミクロン程度の大きさのポリマー粒子に約1000倍の容積に相当するモノマーを一度に吸収させて単分散モノマー膨潤粒子を作製し,それをシード重合することによって8ミクロン程度の単分散高分子超微粒子の合成に成功した。一部モノマーとして二官能性のジビニルベンゼンを用いて橋かけを導入した粒子から未橋かけシードポリマーを抽出することにより多中空粒子を作製することができた。
