研究概要	1) 新しい物質設計指針に基づいて炭酸基(CO_3)を含む一連の新しい超伝導体を10種類以上合成した。特に、一連のホモロガスシリーズ(CaSr)_<n+1>Cu_n(CO_3)O_yを合成し、T_c〓115Kの超伝導体を発見した。この超伝導体のT_cはまだ上昇する可能性がある。さらに、典型的なスピン・パイエルス転移を示す物質CuGeO_3の単結晶を作成し、中性子回折、ラマン散乱等の研究を行なった。 2) 銅酸化物高温超伝導体での電子論的特徴を考慮して、これと類似の、あるいは対照的な電子構造を示すことが期待できるペロブスカイト型(非銅系)3d遷移金属酸化物の物質開発を行なった。この研究課題の目的は(1)非銅系の高温超伝導体の探索、はもちろんであるが、(2)高温超伝導発現のための電子論的条件の定量化、(3)高温超伝導体を含むモット転移近傍の異常金属相の物質開発・物性開拓、にも主眼をおいたものである。一連のペロブスカイト型3d遷移金属酸化物において、3d電子系の強相関電子効果によるモット・ハバード絶縁体(母体物質)にキャリヤードーピング(フィリング制御)を行ない、モット転移を起こすとともに、モット転移近傍の維持用金属層の電子構造・電子物性を詳しく考察し、銅酸化物系高温超伝導体のそれと定量的に比較検討した。平成5年度には具体的には、次のような物質系を開発し、電子物性を調べた。 (1)RNiO_3系(R=La,Nd,Sm,Y) (2)R_<1-x>Ca_xTiO_3系(R=La,Pr,Nd,Sm) (3)La_<1-x>Sr_xCoO_3系 3) 光電子スペクトルの解析から導いた遷移金属化合物の電子状態パラメータの系統的物質依存性を利用し、クラスター・モデルを用いて種々の物理量(バンドキャップ、共有結合性、キャリアーの性格)、熱力学量(生成エンタルピー反応熱など)を計算し、実験とのよい一致を得た。さらに、非制限ハートリー・フォック近似によるバンド・モデルで、格子の周期性の効果を取り入れ、磁気構造や格子変形の金属-絶縁体転移に及ぼす効果も系統的に説明することに成功した。このことによって、上記の方法が未知物質の物性予測を通じて役立つことを示した。
