研究概要	α1-3ガラクトース転移酵素cDNAを導入したトランスジェニックマウスを作成した。このマウスは肺,精巣,目の網膜に異所にガラクトースα1→3ガラクトース結合を発現した。このトランスジェニックマウス由来の着床前の胚は2細胞期からガラクトースα1→3ガラクトース結合を発現したが、発生能に変化はなかった。しかし、このトランスジェニックマウスは生後肝と腎に異常ずる例が多く、糖鎖の異所性発現は組識の機能異常と結びつくことが示された。マウス初期胚の糖鎖原のエピトープを合成するα1-3フコース転移酵素cDNAを導入したL細胞を作成した。この形質転換細胞はシャーレとの接着性を増し、また、テラトカルシノーマ幹細胞F9と、シャーレ面で共存した。この実験結果は、初期胚性のフコース結合が細胞接着,ことに細胞と基質の接着に重要なことを示している。いっぽう、細胞のガラクトース転移酵素の活性を抑えるために、ラクトアルブミンにゴルジへの輸送シグナルをつけたcDNAを作成して、細胞に導入する方法が開発された。ラクトアルブミンはガラクトース転移酵素の特異性を変化させ、グルコース転移酵素とすることが知られている。また、胃粘膜ムチンの分別法が考察された。マウスにおけるガングリオシドの遺伝的差異の基盤となるGM2合成酵素が高度に精製された。エンドグリコシダーゼの逆反応を利用してグリコサミノグリカンの合成反応が考察された。ヒアルロン酸オリゴ糖の化学合成法も進展した。血球分化の過程において糖転移酵素の活性変化が示された。
