研究概要

主として熱中性子を利用するJRR-3M原子炉室内の中性子散乱装置を用いては、主に物性物理関連の研究が実施された。まづ高温超伝導体では、214系銅酸化物の低エネルギー磁気励起が超伝導性と密接に関係したフェルミエネルギー付近のバンド構造を反映していることが判明し、123系のスピンギャップ出現に関する精密測定は妥当な理論的モデル検討に新たな指針を与え、さらに新しい炭酸基を含む超伝導体の合成に成功しその構造を決定した。磁性体の高次構造に関する研究では、フラクタル構造を持つパーコレーション磁性体において長波長スピン波から単波長イジングクラスター励起へのクロスオーバー現象を初めて観測した。また、スピングラスと磁性電子の遍歴性、競合した相互作用を持つ三角格子反強磁性体などの研究も進展した。溶液・非晶質については、金属多価ーカルコゲン系液体の示す金属ー非金属転移に伴う連続的構造変化を観測し転移は電子的であることを明らかにし、また焼成過程におけるSiC繊維のSi-C振動エネルギーの変化を測定しその焼成反応機構を解明した。
本年度から実験利用棟内の冷中性子を用いる研究は本格的に始まり、特に小角散乱装置による研究成果は目覚しいものがある。高分子関係では、三元ブロック共重合体の示す種々の凝集構造が明らかにされ、プリブタジエン混合系ではLCST型相図を新たに見いだし、また化学反応による架橋の相溶性に及ぼす影響、ゾル-ゲル相転移の機構が詳しく調べられ、さらに高分子膜では選択的に表面に集まった重水素化した高分子の構造解析が行われた。生体物質関係では、酵母産生ヒトB型肝炎ワクチン粒子を構成するタンパク質・脂質の存在様式が明らかにされ、膜間の電気化学的エネルギーの変換反応に関与するATP合成酵素の構造変化の研究が進展した。
一方、装置開発研究では、完全結晶を用いたLLL型干渉計による中性子スピン制御法が開発され、また新しい2次元検出器として注目されている熱蛍光体検出器はほぼ実用できる見通しが付いた。
