研究概要	重点領域研究の発足に向けて、「細胞膜から核へのイフォメ-ションフロ-の機構」に関連する分野の調査研究を分担して行った。そして、細胞膜から核へのインフォメ-ションフロ-の過程の全てを取り上げるのでは、対象が広すぎて焦点がぼけてしまう恐れが強いことから、特にどのような領域を重点的に取り上げるか、種々の方面から検討した。第1回班会議を、平成3年9月26ー28日に、仙台第一ワシントンホテルと東北大学教養部において行った。この間、桐野豊、木下一彦及び吉岡亨がオ-ガナイザ-となって、生物物理学会のオ-ガナイズド・セッション「細胞内情報伝達研究における新技術:光学顕微鏡イメ-ジングと極微マニピュレ-ション」を開催し、光学顕微鏡技術の現状を総括し、将来への展望を論じた。仙台第一ワシントンホテルにおける討論会には15名の班員が集合して、これまでの調査研究の結果について議論した。その結果、細胞内インフォメ-ションフロ-のうちで、特に重要な課題は、「細胞機能調節におけるイオンチャネルの修飾の役割とその機構」であり、注目すべき研究手法は、高性能光学顕微鏡と電気生理学手法の複合技術であるとの一応の結論を得た。第2回班会議を平成3年11月20ー23日に、博多サンヒルズホテルと九州大学薬学部において行った。この間、ケンブリッジ大学のDr.Amosを含む新しい光学顕微鏡技術の第一人者を招いて研究会をもち、その後班員の間で調査研究・討論を重ねた。そして、イオンチャネルの中でもカリウムチャネルを重点的に取り上げるべきことが浮き彫りにされてきた。以上の結果に基づき、代表者の桐野豊が中心となって「カリウムチャネルの構造ー機能相関:単一分子の生理学」と題する重点領域申請書を作製し、2月末に文部省に提出した。
