研究概要

本年度の調査は、雨季明けの9月20日から1ヵ月間、南インドのタミール・ナド州を中心に行なった。調査は、それぞれの専門分野である、イエバエ科(篠永)、クロバエ科(倉橋)、ニクバエ科(篠永)、ヤドリバエ科(嶌)、ツヤホソバエ科(岩佐)、ハヤトビバエ科(林)のハエ類の分類・生態学的研究とマーケットや住宅地域に多数発生しているイエバエの防除の目的で、殺虫剤の抵抗性を調べるため、各地のイエバエのコロニーをつくり持ち帰った。
倉橋は、インドセンチニクバエの生理的特性、とくに蛹休眠性を調べた結果、休眠率は1%以下と低いことがわかった。また、南インドの低地では、オビキンバエが、都市内でマーケットや人家で食品などに集まり、衛生上重要な種であることがわかった。その垂直分布は、1500mまでで、それ以上の標高では、ホホグロオビキンバエが優位種となり、低地のオビキンバエと同じ地位にあることを観察した。
イエバエ科では、家畜や野性動物の糞から多くの固有種が発生していることが判明した。特に、国立公園の森林内で観察したゾウと野牛の糞から発生するハエは、野性動物とハエとの係わりを知るうえで興味深い。インドのツヤホソバエ科はすでに岩佐により研究されているが、さらに2新種と1新記録種が見つかった。インドのハヤトビバエ科のハエは、殆ど研究されていない。林は、約70種の本科のハエを見いだした。ヤドリバエ科のハエは、東南アジア地域のものと比べて個体数、種数ともに少なかった。しかし、採集されたヤドリバエ亜科のLinnaemya属とMacquartia属の各1新種は、アジア東部と旧北区にその分布の中心を持つもので、生物地理学上またその寄主の分布を考える上で、非常に興味深いものである。
殺虫剤抵抗性研究のためのイエバエのコロニーは、バンガロール、マイソ-ルなど南インド各地から6コロニーが得られ、現在研究中である。
