研究概要	糖蛋白質や糖脂質の糖鎖部分をはじめとする生物活性糖質を対象として、生物機能が発現されるために必須なそれらの化学構造認識がどの様に進むかを解明することを目的として、各研究者が密接に情報を交換しつつそれぞれ下記の研究成果を挙げた。楠本は糖脂質リポ多糖の抗体による認識についての合成基質を用いた研究とともに、リポ多糖の蛍光標識化と高度な精製を行った。さらに活性部位の認識を研究するために活性類縁体の放射性標識を合成的に進め、高立体選択的かつ迅速で効率的なグリコシド形成反応を開発した。また新たに細菌表層複合糖質リポタイコ酸に注目してその活性部位の確定と認識機構研究のための合成研究を行った。小川は昨年度に続いてムチン型糖鎖を有する糖蛋白質およびその断片である糖オリゴペプチドの化学合成法の一層の完成を目的として研究を行い、シアル酸α2→6ガラクトサミン1→3セリン(スレオニン)ユニットの合成とそのトリ〜ペンタペプチド化に成功し、合成フラグメントによる糖蛋白質の認識機構研究を可能とした。目黒は先に開発した糖質のキラル重水素標識法の活用のために、特異な糖残基の合成を行うとともに、脂質中の重要な成分アシルグリセロールの立体配置の解析法を開発した。永井は脂質性糖鎖を対象として、カエル卵母細胞の酸性糖脂質の分子種が発生過程において変化すること、ヒト細胞においても生育条件によって酸性糖脂質の合成能が変化することを明確に示した。高橋は自ら開発した糖鎖の蛍光標識による2次元マップ法を最大限に応用して天然糖鎖の構造解析と分類研究を進めた。その1例としてはヒト尿中の全く新しい一群の糖鎖の解析が挙げられる。
