研究概要

本研究の目的は、(1)新物質、新組成の探索、(2)人工格子による新物質の設計と超伝導の研究、(3)合成プロセスと超伝導性の研究を行うことである。(1)についてはまず高圧合成による無限層構造をもちACuO_2(A=Sr,Ca)化合物の研究が進展し、110Kをもつ物質は、A_<1-x>CuO_<2-y>と示されるようにAイオン欠陥を導入した化合物で、正孔ドープ型であることが判明し、また高分解TEMによって欠陥構造が明らかにされた。電子ドープ型のSr_<1-x>Lu_xCuO_2はLn=Nd、La、Prの他にSm、Gdでも超伝導になるが、いずれもLnの種類やxに関係なく、T_cは約43Kと一定の値をとるという興味ある結果を得た。一方、エピタキシャル成長による無限層構造化合物(Ca,Sr)CuO_2を合成し、磁気測定や抵抗の測定から90〜170Kで転移する現象を見出し、これが超伝導を示すものか否か検討している。(2)人工格子による超伝導メカニズムの研究が進展している。1ユニットセルYBCOが超伝導になるには、Yを挟んだ2枚のCuO_2層にそれぞれ隣接したBaO-CuO_x-BaOの電荷貯蔵層が必要であるこを見出した。一方、Y系の247相の合成に成功し、これはYBa_2Cu_3O_6とYBa_2Cu_4O_8の1ユニットセルが交互に積層した超格子であるが、超伝導を示さない。これはCuO_2層の一方に隣接するBaO-Cu-BaOがキャリアドープの能力がないことによるもので、薄膜の結果と一致する。また1ユニットセルの2次元超伝導性はKosterlitz-Thouless転移によるものであることを明らかにした。その他人工格子を作製するためのBi系薄膜の結晶成長が検討され、また薄膜成長におけるRHEED振動の研究が進展した。(3)酸素ドープによって超伝導化する方法が検討され、高圧酸素処理でなくとも、数百mVの電位で電解酸化する方法により、La_2CuO_4のみならず、La_<2-x>Pb_xO_4を超伝導化することに成功した。Bi系超伝導体はヨウ素をインターカレートするとステージ1の化合物ができ、T_cがわずかに低下する場合にはホール量の増大によるとしている。La_<2-x>Ba_xCuO_4の状態図が検討され、900℃では相分離が生じ、超伝導を示さないことから、超伝導相は2相分離温度以上の高温安定相がクエンチされたものであり、格子不安定化合物であるとしている。La_<2-x>A_xCuO_4(A=Sr,Ba,Ca)の単結晶育成について引き続き検討した。
