研究概要	本重点領域研究は、原核生物並びに真核生物細胞複製における制御の仕組みを分子レベルで総合的に理解することを研究目的としている。そのために「ゲノム複製開始の制御」、「ゲノム複製の終結と分配の制御」、「細胞複製制御の遺伝子発現」の3課題について班員38名からなる計画研究班を組織し、公募研究13課題と共に領域研究の重点的推進をはかった。総括班幹事会を8月に開催し、本年度の運営と来年度のとりまとめの方針を討議した。本年度は最終年度にあたるので班会議は各班ごとに開催(1班8月、2,3班2月)、これまでの研究の詳細な報告と今後の研究について討議した。8月末には研究状況報告書を文部省に提出し、この作業を通じて班員の研究が着実に進展していることが再確認された。9月にサ-キュラーを発行、班員との情報交流を行なった。(3月に最終サ-キュラーを発行予定)。国際ワークショップ「DNA複製と染色体分配」を金沢シティモンドホテルで開催(10月、参加者159名)。東洋紡バイオテクノロジー財団の援助により海外より9名の代表的研究者を招き、21講演、50題ポスター発表を行ない、班員と若い研究者が世界一流の研究者と交流し、かつ我々の研究を世界に発信する機会となった。「細胞制御」ワークショップ(1月、90人)を開催。12月にカンサス大学Joe Lutkenhaus教授を招き、細菌の分裂機構の研究について助言を得た。12月には総括班会議を開催し、本年度の活動状況と来年度のとりまとめの計画を報告し、評価と助言を得た。2月21日には公開シンポジウムを開催し(東京、参加者120名)、班長によるこれまでの研究の大筋の紹介と班員による発表が行なわれ、活発な討論がなされた。今後の本領域のとりまとめについて3月にサ-キュラーを発行する予定である。
