研究概要	本年度は、研究実行班の期間は終了し、本研究組織の課題は専ら研究の収束を見守ることと、成果の公刊であったが、興味ある研究成果は期間とはある意味で関係なく得られるので、その例を挙げる。植物ホルモンであるオーキシンにより発現誘導されることで単離されていたparBに関して、転写制御のシスエレメントを同定でき、トランスの因子も推定できたが、これは従来信じられていたオーキシン応答エレメントを完全に覆すものであった。また、やはりオーキシン応答遺伝子として単離されていたarcAは、真核細胞に広く分布するC-キナーゼの受容体である可能性が極めて高くなり、今まで知られていない信号伝達の経路が見えてきた。一方、蔗糖により誘導されるβ-アミラーゼの発現誘導には、Ca^<2+>依存タンパク質キナーゼが介在し、カビの感染に関しても、やはりある種のタンパク質キナーゼが関与しているというように細胞内信号伝達系の解明の糸口の提示が本研究グループの終結を飾ってくれた。また、本研究グループで盛んに研究されたタバコ培養細胞BY-2は、国際的にも広く認知されるようになり、世界18ケ国で主として細胞周期の同調の目的で使用されるようになり、日本発信の情報にも本研究グループが貢献した。このような成果を反映して、班員による論文の公刊は、班員数は減っているにもかかわらず、1991年98編、1992年94編、1993年99編、1994年134編で、投稿中60編と順調な上昇を示した。単純な数だけでは、研究の評価は計れないが数もある指標を現しているであろう。取りまとめの作業としては、研究成果を下に一般にも関心をひくような内容の書籍の公刊を企画し、期限内に公刊の運びとなった。これに関連して、総括班幹事会を3度開くとともに、関連の集まりは適宜持った。
