研究概要

植物において遺伝子発現の柔軟性から興味があるのは、植物ホルモンによる多面的遺伝子支配と外界の環境変化に応答して発現する遺伝子群であるのでこれらについて集中的にボーリングを行なった。その結果、オーキシンにより誘導される遺伝子としては葉肉プロトプラストのG_0-S期転換に機能しているparA,parB,parCが単離されていたが、新たに培養細胞からも細胞分裂の誘導と関連してオーキシンにより誘導される遺伝子arcAが単離されたがこれは、G_βタンパク質のモチーフをもち植物細胞では初めての植物ホルモン作用と関連したGタンパク質であり、その役割に興味が持たれた。更に、植物ホルモンがさまざまな様式で植物細胞の分化脱分化に関係をもつことが、ヒャクニチソウ葉肉細胞の分化転換系で示されていたが、この過程に関係する遺伝子群が複数同定された。
環境変化に関しては、シロイヌナズナで乾燥により誘導される遺伝子が複数単離されていたが、それらのいくつかはアジシジン酸の信号伝達系が関与しないものもあったが、関与するものもあり、環境変化への応答と植物ホルモン作用は密接に関連にあることが明確になった。また、サツマイモのβ-アミラーゼの発現誘導は、塊根以外でもスクロースにより誘導されることは示されていたが、この場合も傷害誘導に関わるポリガラクツロン酸で誘導され同様な状況があることがわかり、決定的な解答はまだであるが、遺伝子発現の柔軟性の解明にかなり近づいたと判断しており、最終年度を迎えるにあたり一層の邁進が必要であると班員一同とともに痛感している。
