研究概要	内皮依存性の血管の収縮弛緩に中心とする研究は新しい領域である。しかしながら従来までは内皮細胞の機能がかなり不明確であった。本研究計画によりこの内皮細胞の機能が急速にあきらかになると共にわが国で発見されたエンドセリンを中心とする血管の収縮弛緩調節の問題が推進された。欧米では内皮由来弛緩因子亜酸化窒素が軸となり、最近これにエンドセリンが加わりこの分野を2分した形で展開しているがこれと対照的である。また平滑筋研究も従来の収縮調節機構を中心とする研究から一歩前進し、より巾広い視野から平滑筋の新しい機能を探る方向が出て来た。全体としたエンドセリンを含めた増殖因子、内皮平滑筋増殖と動脈硬化発症との関連を探る研究も動いている。さて本研究計画で今年度も多数の公募研究課題がありこれを各班に振りわけてそれぞれの班の研究計画の輪郭を整えることからスタートした。さらに総括班会議ではこの研究領域を今後どのように展開させていくかという問題が集中的に議論されている。まだ具体的な案は出されていない。今年度の具体的な計画としては、研究全体の進捗をはかるためにニュースレターの発行、計画班員、公募班員を含めた和文総説集の発行を行った。この和文総説集は、それぞれの研究者の周辺状況の相互理解に役立つが、その上この研究成果の一部も盛り込まれている部分もあり、研究の促進にかなり有益であると考えられた。また同様の趣旨で公開シンポジウムを11月10日(火)に開催した。本年度は特に血球成分と血管平滑筋内皮細胞との相互作用に注目した。さらに総括班では、この領域全体の推進をはかるため各班でさらに研究をすすめるべき研究課題を総括班がこれを補強するという型を取った。
