研究概要

本年(H4)年度は当初計画通り3っつの研究グループを単位として研究活動を行い、その間全国的な連絡を取り合って成果を上げた。
1.「重力及び超紐理論の研究」 共形不変理論の紐理論的手段による研究で(1)2次元時空におけるブラック・ホールの代数的手法による解析とその物理的解釈、 (2)2次元場の理論を、2次元より大きな次元に拡張する初の試みとして、イプシロン展開法を用いて、可能な相構造を解明した、等。
2.「低エネルギー現象の研究」 ここで云う低エネルギーとはプランクエネルギーに比較して低いことを指す。統一理論では、その理論の時空構造の量次力学的性質や対称性が低エネルギー現象に大きく影響をおよぼす。この事実を念頭において(1)高次元の1部がコンパクト化した場合に低エネルギー領域に誘発されるゲージ対称性の発生機構の提案、 (2)2次元重力理論、又は紐理論で開発された代数的・解析的手段を物性物理学に応用する研究。具体的には量子ホール効果・エニオン理論で多くの成果をあげた。
3.「量子宇宙問題」 (1)重力に関してAshtekerの方法をN=2超重力に拡張したこと。 (2)2次元超重力に現れる物理的状態の分析等に成果が大きい。
これら3グループの研究は、互いに強い関連があり、各グループメンバー及び関連研究者間の連絡が常に必要であった。このため、あらゆる機会に少人数研究会、全国的な討論会を持った。特に、H4年11月に行われた「量子重力」の国際シンポジウム(西宮)は、国際的な情報交換を可能にし、この研究援助によりメンバーの多くが参加できたことは、大きな成果を上げた。
