研究概要	平成5年度は、本計画の第2年度に当たり、平成4年度から続いている研究の成果が着々と上り始めた段階である。この時点でこれまでの成果を総括して、次年度の完了に向けて最終方針を検討するために、平成5年11月23日から25日迄の3日間、総合的な研究会を開催した。まず、2次元量子重力に関連しては、米谷、江口、坂井を中心として代数的な処方によるもの、解析的な弦理論の処方によるもの等、さまざまなアプローチが試みられた。結果は、2次元ブラックホールの量子力学的研究など本来の目的にとどまらず、統計力学系への応用、2次元乱流理論への応用、また微生物の遊泳運動にまで、この分野で発展した共形場理論の拡張がなされた。 2次元以上の量子重力に関しても、本研究の与えた影響は大きい。3次元時空の量子宇宙論は、ゆっくりではあるが着実に成果を上げつつある。4次元においても、2次元理論で開発された手法を部分的に応用して研究することが試みられている。低エネルギーの物理学においては、プランク質量(及びプランク長)を唯一のスケールとみなし、その極限で無次元量だけを含む場の理論の構成が試みられた。この場合、最初の力学系が持ち合わせなかったゲージ対称性が生成される例が発見された。そのキーとなる機構はBerry位相である。これは、一般に系の対称性は高エネルギーへ行く程高くなるという定説に反例を出した点で今後の面白いテーマになり得る。
