研究概要	1994年1月6日〜8日に亘って、石川県江沼郡ほくりく荘で研究討論会を開催し、上記テーマについて各研究分担者の得た成果を発表すると共に徹底討論を行った。尚この研究会には、研究分担者の他、増本健教授(東北大金研所長)を招き、「新物質開発の視点-相変態の利用」と題する特別講演をしていただいた。以下主な成果の概要を述べる。まず金属間化合物について沖等は、L1_0規則化に伴って導入される双晶は正方歪の大きさ即ち結晶軸比により整理できることを示した。セラミックスについては佐分利等が、電子顕微鏡その場観察によって、誘電体の散漫相転移の基本的特徴を明らかにした。形状記憶合金に関しては大塚等が、Ni-Al合金における7Rマルテンサイトの自己調整形態を研究し、従来のダイアモンド形態に代わる新しい形態を提案した。今話題の準結晶については、平賀等が、2次元準結晶は、原子の5角形配列が周期的に積み重なった原子カラムを構造単位として、それらが決まった関係で2次元的につながっていることを明らかにした。又小岩等はAlPdMn準結晶の弾性率を測定し興味深い結果を得た。岩崎は桁違いに高い輝度を持つ放射光のX線回折により、BiやPなど今迄未解決だった高圧下の相転移を明らかにした。鈴木は2次元のマルテンサイト変態のコンピュータ・シミュレーションにより、格子欠陥と核形成及び核形成と双晶導入につき興味深い結果を得た。以上の他多様な相変態につき極めて先端的でホットな研究成果が多数あった。例えば、寺崎は複雑な新型“ゼオライト"の構造を決定すると共に、そのcageにとらえられたK原子クラスターが強磁性を示すという驚くべき報告をした。全体として、相変態研究の新しい展開の兆しが種々な分野で見られ、又飛躍的な実験技術の進歩がこれを強くback upしていることを強く感じさせる研究会であった。近い将来、相変態研究の飛躍的発展を確信している。
