研究概要	本研究の目的は、種々のロドプシンおよびロドプシン様タンパクの研究者および理論家が集まり、討論し、ロドプシンおよびロドプシン様タンパクの光化学反応を解明すること事にある。本総合研究をきっかけとして、幾つかの共同研究が生まれ、十分な研究成果があがった。 1.pharaonis phoborhodopsin(ppR)について:低温スペクトル法、ナノ秒およびミリ秒閃光光分解法により光化学反応を明らかにした。クロモフォア抽出、レチナールアナログの使用等によりレチナールの異性化および結合部位の推定を行なった。 2.変異ロドプシンについて:バクテリアのロドプシンでは自然界に種々の機能は同じで一次構造の異なったタンパクが存在し、その解析から機能発現に必須のアミノ酸残基が同定された。種の分類と一次構造によい対応があることが明らかにされた。動物のロドプシンでは、培養細胞での発現させることが出来るようになった。 3.タコのロドプシンについて:光化学反応が詳細に研究され、構造変化についても研究された。 4.FTIR、ラマン散乱による構造変化:バクテリオロドプシン、タコのロドプシンおよびフィトクロームで詳細に調べられた。 5.結晶化:イカのロドプシンおよびバクテリオロドプシンの結晶化を行ない、興味ある結果を得た。 6.クラミドモナスおよびゾーリ虫の光応答:クラミドモナスにおいては、光合成と走光性の関係が明らかになった。ゾーリ虫のロドプシンおよび情報伝達に関与するタンパクが明らかになりつつある。 7.理論的研究:視物質の光異性化に対する動力学的理論を完成した。また、シッフ塩基の基準振動解析を非経験的分子軌道法を併用して行なった。
