閉殻配置をもつ金属イオンの錯体におけるd-π相互作用

研究概要	閉殻電子構造をもつ金属イオン(たとえば2価の亜鉛)の錯体は、d電子のイオン化ポテンシャルが高いことからも理解できるようにd電子の寄与はほとんどないということが常識となっていた。しかし、近年、色のついた亜鉛の錯体が合成されたことから、亜鉛のd電子と配位子のπ電子とのd-π相互作用の可能性についての議論が高まってきた。本研究は、この問題を三重項スピン副準位の立場から研究したものである。大きく分けて2つの種類の錯体について研究し、以下に要約するような成果を得た。 (1)亜鉛(II)の混合配位子錯体 Zn(NN)(SS)という一般式で表わされる混合配位子錯体について研究した。ここで(NN)はビピリジンやフェナントロリンのような2つのN原子をもっている配位子であり、(SS)はチオール分子2個を示す。この種の錯体は、(NN)から(SS)への電荷移動状態が存在し、そのために黄色に着色している。このような電荷移動状態と(NN)局在の励起状態の両方について、三重項スピン副準位について研究した。いずれについても、中心金属イオンのd軌道の寄与はないことが明らかとなった。 (2)亜鉛(II)のフェナントロリン-ハロゲン混合配位子錯体この種の錯体は上述したような電荷移動状態は存在しないので、フェナントロリン局在の励起状態について研究した。フェナントロリン局在といっても、三重項スピン副準位の性質はハロゲンのp軌道の寄与を大きく受け、また、亜鉛のd軌道の影響は全くないことが明らかとなった。また、カドニウム(II)の錯体についても同様の結論を得た。
