研究概要	本年度は二つのテーマに“C-N balance"アイデアを適用し以下の進展をみた。 1.シロアリー共生微生物システムについて (1)“C-N balance"機構には「Nをinput側に加える」方法と「Cを選択的にoutputする」方法があることを示し、シロアリの微生物・キノコとの相互作用のうち、この二通りの「C-N balance"機構として機能するものの全体像をまとめた。 (2)“C-N balance"の能力に見合う程度にしか食料資源を利用できないことを理論的に導き、ワンピース・タイプ(巣をなした枯れ木を食糧源にするタイプ)よりセパレーツ・タイプ(巣と食糧源を分離するタイプ)、その中でもキノコ栽培をするタイプのシロアリがより繁栄している現象についての仮説を得た。 (3)セパレーツ・タイプにしか真のワーカー(不妊の職蟻)が存在しない理由について、先に出した進化的仮説を“C-N balance"から補強する理論を導いた。 2.生物群集の栄養動態構造について (1)食物網の各構成種の食物連鎖関係上でのニッチを、栄養段階に沿って食物網を解きほどいたときの水平・垂直的分布から定量化する方法を開発した。 (2)簡単な窒素動態モデルにより、植物生産者と分解者の間の「協同進化」が、どういう条件のもとでどのような方向に進むか、という問題を扱える理論的枠組みを開発した。 (3)各構成生物種の“C-N balance"問題に着目した概念的モデルを森林・草原・水域の各生物群集に適用することにより、栄養動態構造における特徴的差異をその生成機構とともに明らかにした。 (4)珊瑚礁生物群集の発達の動的メカニズムを“C-N balance"のアイデアに基づいて説明する概念的モデルを得た。
