研究概要

本年度はビサヤ漁村共同体における政治関係と宗教の連動、呪術的観念の様態、国内外移住者の生活史に関する研究において、以下のような成果を得た。
ビサヤ内海中央部のバンタヤン島においては第二次大戦後、漁業の動力化・機械化により商業的漁業が栄え、漁業活動(干物生産、仲買、運搬卸売りを含む)全般にまで影響を及ぼした。経済的背景の変化は民族社会の権力構造に変質を起こし、機械化・動力化に成功した船主が新興資本家層を形成し、スペイン期に勢力を誇った旧名家を没落させた。この権力争いはキリスト教聖像の維持・管理といった点に象徴され、没落名家と新興勢力との対立や、宗教シンボルによる統合原理の多元化といった社会過程を見いだすことができる。
バンタヤン島とシキホール島では、呪術的祭祀者により儀礼を調査し、精霊に関する固有の考え方、不幸・災難に対する説明と対処の仕方などを理解した。不幸、災難の原因と考えられるものを出来事の民族誌的記述から整理すると、(1)精霊に起因するもの、(2)死者霊に起因するもの、(3)本人が引き起こすもの(禁きのき侵犯)、(4)他人が引き起こすもの(呪い)、などに分類できる。(1)(2)のような霊的世界に対する関与、霊力・呪力との交渉の一方で、(4)のように緊密な人間関係とのかかわりを指摘することができる。
ミンダナオ島南コタバト州では、イロンゴ移民による国内外移動という動態と社会的ネットワークの展開を、個人の生活史より明らかにし、以下の知見を得た。(1)村落では農外雇用を求めてとくに未婚子による都市部への移住ならびに海外出稼ぎ労働が顕在化している。(2)性差に着目すると、海外出稼ぎは女性に見られるものの、一時的で海外と当該村落をつなぐネットワークの展開は見られない。(3)男性の移動は、都市部への親族の絆を軸とした移住のため、知人・友人を取り込んだ連続した移住が見られる。
