研究概要	スペイン側との共同研究ではトリアゾールの平衡凍結、包接結晶中でのプロトン移動及び酸性アミノ酸エステルの光学分割の研究を行った。まず、トリアゾールを種々のホスト化合物に包接させて、一方の互変異性体を純粋に取り出してその構造解析をX線分析によって行った。この方法によって、これまで互変異性体の混合物で、しかも液体であるため、構造解析が不可能であったトリアゾール誘導体の真の構造を知ることができた。次に、ピラゾールの包接結晶の^<13>C及び^<15>N NMRスペクトルの測定によって、ピラゾールのプロトンが結晶中で移動を起こして互変異性体へ変換する様子を〓えることができた。この水素移動が、ピラゾールとホスト分子との水素結合ネットワークを通して起こっていることを明らかにすることもできた。更に、光学活性ホスト化合物との包接結晶化方法を用いて、酸性アミノ酸類の光学分割を能率良く行うことができた。この成果は、今後の多種多様の人工アミノ酸類の光学分割に道を開いたものと考えられ、たいへん貴重なものである。南アフリカ側との共同研究では、アンモニウム塩とフェノール類との包接結晶の構造解析及びこの包接結晶中の分子認識の機構解明を行った。この結果、アンモニウム塩のアルキル鎖が集合して疎水部を形成する一方、陽イオン化した窒素原子部分が集合して極性部分を形成する。そして、窒素原子付近に存在するハロゲン陰イオンにフェノールの水酸基が水素結合を形成して包接化されることが判明した。この分子集合体は分子認識能力にも優れており、異性体分離にも役立つことがわかった。例えば、P-フェニルフェノールは分子集合体を形成するがO-異性体は形成しないので、両異性体を容易に分離することができた。又、ジオール系ホスト化合物とゲスト化合物から形成される水素結合ネットワークに基づく分子集合体結晶の熱力学的測定から分子集合による安定性の評価を行った。
