研究概要

平成5年度においては、情報ネットワーク統合化に向けて、将来の通信形態である広帯域ISDN、FDDI、ATM通信等における通信品質を考察するために、これら通信システムの数学的モデル化および性能評価手法の世界的な視野での理論の到達度、必要性に関する情報交換を行い、具体的なテーマに関する共同研究を進展するに必要な理論的検討を行なった。これに伴い、海外から1名の研究者をカリフォルニア大学から招聘し、また研究の打ち合せおよび研究テーマの検討のためにカリフォルニア大学およびコロンビア大学へ延べ3名を派遣した。
得られた具体的成果としては、主に次のようなものがある。
1.音声・画像・データ等を統一したマルチメディア環境下でのトラヒックのバースト性・相関性を考慮したトラヒックモデルの確立および解析法の開発を行った。これにより従来よりも一歩現実に近づいた性能予測が可能になり、セル廃棄率・送信遅延等の定量的評価が得られる。なお得られた結果は従来得られている待ち行列理論の種々の結果を完全に包含し、拡張したものになっている。(高橋、滝根)
2.3ステージからなるATM交換機にセルの局所集中を防ぐ目的でもう1ステージ追加したATM交換機を提案し、その性能評価を行った。その結果大幅な性能の改善が図れることが判明した。(宮原、尾家)
3.情報通信ネットワークにおける大量の網管理情報からの知識獲得に関する基礎的研究を行った。(西尾、河野)
4.情報ネットワークにおけるトラヒック特性を性能評価する上で理論的基礎をなすトラヒック理論を専門的知識なしに広く一般の利用に供するためのツールの開発に着手し、そのプロトタイプを完成した。(高橋、河野)
