研究概要

1.地球形成初期に生じたマグマオーシャンの中でのコア(中心核)の分離過程を地球化学的に明かにするため、超高圧下におけるFe-けい酸塩系の溶融実験が行なわれた。15GPa以上の圧力ではSi、Oの溶融けい酸塩から溶融鉄への溶解が生じ、圧力とともに溶解量が増大することが明かになった。しかし、Mgの溶解は認められず、1000km以上の深さのマグマオーシャンの中でコアの分離が生じたならば、Si、Oがコアに軽元素として取り込まれるとともに、マントルのSi/Mg比、Mg/(Mg+Fe)比が大きく影響を受けたことが示された。さらに、溶融鉄の冷却に伴うこれらの軽元素の析出の観察から、コアの化学的進化と対流の駆動力の検討がおこなわれた。地球の熱源として注目されているKが26GPaで0.2wt%程度溶融鉄に溶けることが確認された。また、希土類元素の若干の溶融も認められた。現在、隕石を出発物質にして同種の実験が進行中である。
2.微量・極微量元素分析用の二次イオン質量分析計の導入がなされ、標準試料の準備とともに定量化をめざした分析実験が進められている。また、圧力部材として焼結ダイヤモンドを用いた圧力発生を行なうための油圧直接駆動方式の装置の据付けが最近完了した。今後、実験圧力の拡大と、広い範囲の親石元素の溶融鉄とけい酸塩の間の分配係数の決定を行う予定である。
