表面吸着相における超臨界流体の微細構造とダイナミックスに関する基礎研究

研究概要

超臨界流体の関与するプロセスは、流体バルクだけではなく吸着相での挙動が重要な役割を果たす。当研究室ではすでに、固体表面からの超臨界抽出の分子レベルでの解明に、分子動力学(MD)法とコンピューターグラフィックス(CG)が有効であることを明らかにしている。本研究では、より実在的な系として、ミクロ細孔中での超臨界流体のダイナミックス、溶質としての有機分子のダイナミックス、およびエントレーナー効果について検討を行った。
ゼオライト外表面に超臨界水を配置させてMD計算を行ったところ、ゼオライト細孔中の水分子が速やかに細孔内から流体相に取り込まれる様子が明らかになった。この結果は、セラミックス乾燥溶媒としての超臨界流体の役割を解明するために、MD法が非常に有効であることを示している。
たばこからのニコチン抽出をモデルとし、超臨界二酸化炭素中でのニコチン有機分子のダイナミックスについて検討を行った。ニコチン塩の周りに超臨界二酸化炭素のみが存在する場合、ニコチン塩自体は超臨界二酸化炭素に不溶であるために、ニコチン塩周囲で二酸化炭素分子が凝集する様子は見られなかった。しかし、エントレーナーとして水分子を少し加えた系についてMD計算を行ったところ、二酸化炭素分子がニコチン塩の周囲に集まってくる様子が明らかになった。このように無極性分子で構成される超臨界二酸化炭素流体中に、エントレーナーとして極性分子を加えることにより、溶質と超臨界流体間に強い相互作用が生まれることが明らかになった。これが、エントレーナー効果による高抽出効率の要因であると考えられる。このようにMD法は超臨界流体の係わる種々のプロセス原子レベルでの理解において有用であり、今後さらに多様かつ具体的な課題への適用が期待される。
