研究概要

“あすか"のX線望遠鏡、検出器の総合性能較正をすすめ、NASAの協力のもとにデータベース化を進めた。
特性X線を放射する天体、星形成領域、超新星、銀河中心、銀河団などの総合的な研究を進めた。具体的成果は原始星からのX線の発見、殻型超新星残骸からの非熱的X線放射成分の検出、銀河団の重力構造の決定などが特筆できる。
“あすか"搭載X線CCDの宇宙環境における安定性や、性能変化を長期的にモニターし、データを定量的に解析した。これは今後の衛星計画におおきなフィードバックをあたえるものである。
X線CCD素子を試作し、冷却したときの雑音レベル、電荷転送効率の温度依存性を調べた。X線に対する特性、特に一次電子の拡散の様子、裏面照射型素子を放射光を使いその特性を調べた。CCDの読み出し雑音を下げるために必要な素子製作の基礎研究をおこなった。読み出し雑音レベルとして電子換算で数個を実現した。読み出し部分を低雑音化するためのJFETの設計試作し、京大タンデム加速器を用いて、宇宙環境荷電粒子を生成させ、それをCCDに照射し、その特性変化を研究した。さらに、特性劣化を最小限にするような温度環境、動作電圧、速度を求め、宇宙環境への実用化にめどをつけた。
