研究概要

重イオン破砕反応で生成された短寿命核のスピン偏極は、^<197>Au及び^<27>Al標的の場合は生成核の運動量分布のピークのときに必然的にゼロとなるのが特徴であった。しかし、^<93>Nb標的実験では偏極は上記運動量ピークのときに負の有限値を示しており、謎であった。この観測事実は、生成核の収量と偏極度の大きさを同時に最適化できること即ち、収量の点で有利な、より高い入射エネルギーやより軽い標的でも、偏極度が小さくならないことを意味しており、きわめて興味深い。ドイツGSIの加速器を用いた高エネルギー反応でも同様の描像が成り立つかどうかの測定を行った。こうした破砕反応を用いて、未だ磁気モーメントが分かっていなかった^<14>B、^<15>B、^<21>F、^<17>Nおよび^<17>Bについて測定した。また偏極核^<14>B,^<15>Bを、hcp構造をもつMg単結晶中に植え込み、電場勾配を利用して核四重極モーメントの測定を行った。
GaAs中の不純物の核偏極をレーザー光ポンピングにより生成し、In不純物の研究を^<114>Inを用いて核スピンの横および縦緩和時間の測定を通し行った。またInPを中心として、動的自己核偏極の生成を実験的に確証した。
次に^<114>InをSi,GaAs等にイオン注入するため、PACスペクトロメーターの整備、コールドInをSi,GaAs,Fe-Si合金にISOLによりイオン注入するテスト、RBSスペクトルの測定、注入Inの確認、定量をした。
又イオントラップによる超微細構造の研究では、Caの安定偶同位体のトラップとそのレーザー励起蛍光の観測、光子計数型カメラによるイオン雲の観測、イオンのレーザー冷却、濃いHeガス中で静止したイオンを極低エネルギーかつ高効率で超高真空に導くビームガイドの開発を成し遂げた。
