研究概要	森田グループは、超高真空走査型原子間力/トンネル顕微鏡(AFM/STM)の開発を行い、原子間力顕微鏡の非接触測定で真の原子分解能を初めて達成した。現在、STMとの複合化を行っている。また、負電荷の高密度帯電状態を調べ、帯電電荷の高密度限界の機構を明らかにした。市ノ川グループは、STMと走査形オージェ電子顕微鏡と複合化して、mmからÅの領域の画像を同一視野で観測できるようにし、STMの探針とSTM像の関連をSEM像の基礎に明らかにした。また、STMでSi(100)、(110)、(111)上のCuの再配列構造を決定した。高柳グループは、STM探針の正確な位置制御を行うことにより、原子レベルの探針-試料表面相互作用のTEM観察を行った。その結果、探針-試料表面間の距離や電圧や電流の変化に伴う表面形状の変化の観察に成功した。潮田グループは、ポーラスシリコン表面のSTM像計測と個々のSi微粒子からのSTM発光を観測した。その結果、発光スペクトルのピークエネルギーがSi微粒子のサイズに依存すること、その依存性が量子閉じ込め効果として理解できることを見いだした。魚住グループは、微粒子を経た電気伝導過程で、伝導に直接関与しない微粒子の帯電により負性微分抵抗が生ずる可能性を示した。また、磁場中測定可能な超高真空低温STMの調整を行い、Al微粒子の酸化に伴う電流電圧特性の変化を測定した。大津グループはフォトンSTMの装置性能を昨年にくらべさらに向上させ、金微粒子を標準試料として伝達関数を評価し、分解能0.8nmを得た。次に、液体ヘリウム温度で動作させ、半導体量子ドットの空間分解分光を行った。板谷グループは、Au(111)上のヨウ素の吸着構造と電位の関係を詳細にSTMおよびLEEDにより決定し、これらの表面上で仕事関数の測定(I-S曲線)を溶液およびUHV中で行った。さらに、ヨウ素を吸着した表面には多くの有機物質が吸着し高度に配向した吸着構造が出現する事も見いだした。
