研究概要

近年、脳の自然科学的な研究手法が急速に進歩し、脳研究は認知、記憶、思考、意志、行動などの高次機能に迫ろうとしている。脳の実験的研究では、遺伝と学習の相互作用の分子生物学的理解が進み、一方、大脳皮質、海馬、小脳などの認知、記憶、運動制御の情報処理の基本様式が明らかにされた。また、脳の理論的研究においても、認知、記憶、言語、思考、意志決定などの情報論的構造が明らかにされつつあり、これらの機能の獲得機構が神経回路の学習理論として研究されている。本重点研究は、1)コバリアンス学習規則、2)認知・記憶情報のスパース表現、3)認知系の順逆変換、4)運動系の順逆変換という脳の情報処理に関する4つの基本仮説の証明を目指して、4つ計画研究班を組織し、理論と実験の共同研究を行っている。平成7年度の成果としては、第1班では脳切片や共培養標本などのin vitro系を用いたコバリアンス仮説に関する実験と理論の共同研究を重点的に行った。第2班においては記憶情報の情報表現とくにスパース表現と記憶容量に関する知見を得た。第3班では知覚・認知の階層的情報表現、特に形の情報表現について、形の情報が柱状配列が学習により変化するなどの知見を得た。第4班では眼球運動抑制における小脳の役割について理論と実験の共同研究を実施し、運動制御の逆変換仮説を支持する知見を得た。
これらの共同研究を円滑に推進しあるいはその成果を広報するために、夏のワークショップ(平成7年8月24-26日、180名、蓼科)、サテライトシンポジューム(平成7年8月23日、110名、蓼科)、シンポジューム(平成7年9月12日、200名、東京)、蔵王チュートリアルワークショップ(平成8年1月8-10日、70名、蔵王)を開催し、またこれらの行事の計画運営のために総括班会議を3回開催し、ニュースを4号発行した。
