研究概要

近年、脳の自然科学的な研究手法が急速に進歩し、脳研究は認知、記憶、思考、意志、行動などの高次機能に迫ろうとしている。脳の実験的研究では、遺伝と学習の相互作用の分子生物学的理解が進み、一方、大脳皮質、海馬、小脳などの認知、記憶、運動制御の情報処理の基本様式が明らかにされた。また、脳の理論的研究においても、認知、記憶、言語、思考、意志決定などの情報論的構造が明らかにされつつあり、これらの機能の獲得機構が神経回路の学習理論として研究されている。本重点研究は平成5-7年度にかけて、1)コバリアンス学習規則、2)認知・記憶情報のスパース表現、3)認知系の順逆変換、4)運動系の順逆変換という脳の情報処理に関する4つの基本仮説の証明を目指して、4つ計画研究班を組織し、理論と実験の共同研究を行った。平成8年度はこれらの研究成果を取りまとめ、業績集を編集し、出版した。
