研究概要	桂らは、胸腺培養系で、胸腺細胞のクローン除去を誘導できる系を確立すると共に、クローン除去能を有する細胞株を同定した。クローン除去には、この細胞由来の第2シグナルが必要であることを明らかにした。西川らは、骨髄ストローマ細胞依存性の造血やB前細胞の増殖を支持できる完全無血清培地の開発に成功すると共に、抗IL-7受容体モノクローナル抗体を樹立し、IL-7シグナルがリンパ球初期分化に必須であることを証明した。斉藤らは、CD3ζ鎖欠損マウスを作製し、ζ鎖の代わりにFcR_γ鎖ダイマーをシグナル伝達分子として使用していることを証明した。阪口らは、抗原受容体の機能分子として、新しいp52,p160分子を発見した。さらに、これらの分子に対するモノクローナル抗体を作製すると共に、p52分子をコードする遺伝子の単離に成功した。さらに、成熟B細胞と未熟B細胞では、抗原受容体を介するシグナル伝達系に差があり、p52やp160分子は、この問題を解明するための重要な分子であることを明らかにした。平野らは、IL-6受容体を介するシグナル伝達経路に、JakチロシンキナーゼとStatファミリーに属するシグナル伝達性転写因子が重要な役割を果していることを明らかにした。さらに、骨髄ストローマ細胞より、B前駆細胞の増殖支持能を有する新しい膜蛋白BST-1の遺伝子クローニングに成功した。菅村らは、IL-2R_γ鎖がシグナル伝達に重要であると共に、IL-4,IL-7受容体のサブユニットとして作用していることを証明した。上出らは、T細胞活性化に重要な補助シグナル伝達分子であるB7には、スプライシングの差で異なるサブタイプが存在しており、この分子(MB7-2)は、B7とは異なる役割をしている可能性を明らかにした。
