研究概要	昨年度での調査研究により、バイオレメディエーションについての概念の明確化、現状の把握がほぼ行われ、さらに国際ワークショップなどを通じてへ米国を初めとする世界的な当該研究に関する流れも把握できた。それを踏まえて本年度はバイオレメディエーションを実施するために取り上げられるべき課題について、各種の微生物を対象として技術開発に取り組んだ。そのために全体会議を2回開催し意見交換を行ったほか、1994年11月に開かれたOECDワークショップ東京 94には、本研究班から講演者を含めて3名が参加を求められ、活発に討議に加わった。なお、このワークショップの開催によりOECDの場において、環境保全へのバイオテクノロジーの活用について、その有効性、安全性等に関する観客的検討の開始、国際協力の必要性が確認され、本研究課題の重要性がますます高まった。技術開発については、各分担研究者がそれぞれの対象について研究を進め、大学および国立研究所における基盤研究ではBHC、PCB、塩化アニリン、多塩素置換フェノール、トリクロロチレン、PEGなどの難分解化学物質や、窒素酸化物を分解する微生物、脱金属機能をもつ微生物などの酵素遺伝子の解析と機能強化へのアプローチを行い、実際のバイオレメディエーションに役立つ微生物の機能解析ならびに機能発現条件の検討、それらの微生物の分子育種を行うための諸研究に進展が見られた。また自治体、企業の研究者はバイオレメディエーション実施に際し必要となる土壌、排水処理装置、システムなど支援技術の開発を行った。それらをまとめた本研究の成果は、本班員のみならず班外の環境科学に携わる研究者の協力も得て、1995年5月を目途に成書「環境を守る微生物のはなし」として『技報堂』から出版されることになっており、現在ほぼ原稿が揃ったところである。
