研究概要

(1)多摩川河口域で懸濁態有機物の炭素安定同位体比(δ^<13>C)を詳細に測定した。陸起源有機物のδ^<13>Cのエンドメンバーは-26.6‰であった。懸濁態有機炭素のδ^<13>Cは、陸起源有機物と植物プランクトンの増殖に影響され、-30‰から-17‰まで広い範囲の値を示した。
(2)東京湾内湾域で植物プランクトンの現存量と光合成活性の測定を引き続き行った。
(3)富栄養湖霞ケ浦で窒素栄養塩を中心に季節変動を調査した。従来観測された秋〜初春における硝酸態窒素の蓄積が1994から起こらなくなっていることが明らかになった。
(4)前年度に採取した琵琶湖夏季のプランクトンのリンを分析し、気象擾乱に伴う湖水混合との関係を解析した結果、湖水混合に伴う深層からのリンの供給に対しバクテリアとピコプランクトンは極めて敏感に反応して細胞内リン含量が増加し、懸濁態リンの動態に大きく関与していることが明らかになった。
(5)東南アジアの沿岸低湿地には20百万haにも及ぶ熱帯泥炭地があり、その一部には澱粉を採取するためのサゴヤシが植栽され、この地域の生態系を保全しつつ持続可能なサゴヤシ澱粉の生産が達成されており、サゴヤシの生育は熱帯泥炭土の方が沖積土より遅いことを明らかにした。
(6)沿岸域の生態系を維持管理する考え方のひとつであるミティゲーションについて調査研究を実施し、従来の環境アセスメントの一部であるという解釈もあるが、好適な環境を積極的に創造するという意味が含まれていることが特徴でもあることを明らかにした。
(7)環境資源利用の現状把握及び評価を行うための具体的手法として、環境資源管理主体といった特定の勘定主体の立場にたつミクロ会計方式として「環境資源管理会計」を提案すると共に、数値シミュレーションモデルを用いて利用方法を例示した。
